    58 remington

    I have searched the forums, and found nothing concerning this. I own a .58 Remington .44. The Gun is stainless steel. Was this metal type, or finish appropriate for the period? Any information would be apprecieated.

    No, stainless steel didn't come about until the early 20th century.

      Hallo!

      Plus, it is more likely a repro Remington M1863 New Model Army or M1863 New Model Navy.
      No one makes a repro of the 1858 Beals-Remington revolver.

      As made/issued, the grip frame, frame, cylinder, barrel, and loading lever were blued. However, rarely, on special order, different finishes could be purchased such as nickel plated for the civillian market.
