  • Removing pet hair

After my last reenactment, which was a while ago, I came home completly exhausted and just threw my stuff down on the floor of my room. I eventually put most of it away, except for too wool blankets, one modern one period, and a sack coat I don't use anymore. Like most of the things I own they got completly covered in white cat hair. Not only does it look rediculous but it can be very irritating. Is there anyway I can remove large amounts of cat hair from these items. I've tried a lint brush and those sticky paper things but there's too much for them to handle. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Tim,

In many years of service with the Marines...

The best and most economical method of lint and hair removal I've found is to run two loops of 100 mile an hour or Duct tape around your hand sticky side out and secure it to itself. Then you can use it in both a patting motion or using your hand as a roller, run it across the offending garment in question. Once it appears the tape is not picking up anymore hair or lint you can discard it and repeat. You'll be suprised how much lint and hair this proccess will remove.

I have done precisely the same thing with both Sack Coats and Trousers that have run afoul of lint and dog hair and it works just fine.

(with tongue firmly implanted in cheek) The blanket... it might be a bit authentic to have the hair mixed in it...

I hope that helps and Good Luck,
    Your Obedient Servant,
