  • University of Colorado Buffalo Mess

    Hello gents,
I'm interested in getting a small mess started at the University of Colorado at Boulder this coming semester (Fall '08), and am interested in recruits. Our mess would be associated with the First Colorado Infantry out of Denver City. If anyone here is a student at CU or lives in the Boulder area please get in touch with me at FirstColoVol@msn.com.

    Thanks!

Re: University of Colorado Buffalo Mess

    Greetings Aaron,
Nice to see another reenactor from Colorado on here.
I myself am at CSU up here in Fort Collins, and am with a unit from back home in the southern part of the state.

Will ya'll be taking part next spring in any of the events down in New Mexico?

Hope you find some fellers for your mess, it's sure nice to see the hobby growing here in Colorado.

Stationed at Fort Carson currently. I'll be leaving early next year, but I'd be more than willing to fall in with ya should you boys do any living history out this way. Let me know (PM)...

I'm working on putting together the schedule of next years events for the 1st California here in AZ. We've been looking at heading over to New Mexico for an event, especially near Fort Craig where we were stationed. Make sure to keep us clued in on what you Colorado boys are up to and perhaps we can find a chance to take the field together this next year.

That goes for you fellows in Utah, Nevada, New Mexico and West Texas as well.

We ain't afraid of driving to quality events and are headed to Marmy's next week.

So, you think that scrap in the East is rough, do you?

Ditto on what Troy said. We're all too close to each other not to meet up some time for events.

            A Double Dito For me

The more thoes of us who are in AZ, NM, CO, UT, NV, along with W Texas.

Should work together, as the impressions that are specifically out here (especially the US ones ) are almost identical (1st Co and 1st CA have 98% of the same equipment & arms. As well as many of the same duty postings at Forts and Camps

There is good reason that we should help each other out & fall in together.

Re: University of Colorado Buffalo Mess

                        Gentlemen,

This last weekend an idea was set forward within the unit I am apart of. Which is to hold a spectator event somewhere in the Denver/CO Springs area similar to some of the events held on the west coast. We are thinking an August time frame. The purpose of this would be to generate more interest in the Civil War era in the public in this area.

I don't know if that kind of event is something anybody here would be interested in doing, but if it is just shoot me a PM. Right now we are just getting the word out to all reenactors in the area to see who would be interested in coming to such an event.

                        Thanks,

                          Hi Emily and all,

There are some of us up here in Wyoming desperate for something to do in the summertime. Denver and the Springs aren't far for us to go at all. Please keep me posted, also.

We do some 60's trail stuff up here at Ft. Laramie and Ft. Bridger, so if you're interested, let me know and I'll keep you posted. There's room for military stuff at the forts - one of those situations where civilian and military can/do mix. We have wagons to boot. :)

                          Regards,
                          Janet Wragge

I guess there is one thing we can do is share link of forums and such of us in the Co/Wy/UT and other point between. I know there is talk about a get together for drill or something sometime around earlier Oct.

Any idea where that will be? Dates? Civilian involvement? I'm not a tent sitter type, so hopefully there's something useful for civilians to do.

If you need a spot, Ft. Laramie is usually open for groups to come play, and will sometimes even let you stay in the barracks. The grounds are amazing with lots of room for whatever drill you want to do. Horses are allowed as well. Just a thought.
