    Re: Western Federal Blues

To fellow Blues and those of interest:

The $5.00 early registration fee for Perryville is up on July 31. That is a just a few short days away now. After that date the price goes up. You need to contact the park to get an invitation/registration. Contact Joni House and she will send you the standards for the event participation. If you agree to abide by the standards that have been set, she will send you the registraiton package. She'll have you to read over them and make sure you are willing and able to abide by those standards as they will be enforced at the event.

The Western Federal Blues will be the host for the event and we have an excellent program planned for everyone. If you liked what you saw last year, then you are really going to like what we got planned this year. We hope to see you there.

This is just another reminder that the Registration for the Perryville event is $10.00 till September 16th when it goes up again. Your Registration fees will be used for the restoration project of the museum exhibit at the Perryville Park. Remember, as stated before, there will be NO WALK-ON’S at the event without approval from the military commanders, so if you have not registered yet, you need to do so as soon as possible. Our goal is to raise four companies for this 147th anniversary. This is shaping up to be a really great event and we want you to be part of it, as we focus this year on the fight for Peter’s Hill. To get your registration package, contact the park at (859) 332-8631.

          Hello
I would just like to know where the bulk of the members live and throughout which states are the members spread? I've played with the idea of joining but living out in Utah makes membership seem a bit unrealistic.

            Hello Kenny,

I am glad you asked. The bulk of our members come out of KY, IN, OH, WV, IL and TN. However, from out west, we do have a small handfull from the state of CO who support and have fallen in with us, such as at Perryville last year when the the Blues held their first unofficial event.
We know that not everyone can make every event. Everyday life like home, school, work, family, even location, etc. is a factor. Our thing is that we would like the Blues to be a home for you also. Heck, you can belong to another group or several groups. We are not trying to take away anyone from their home groups, we just ask that they make the Blues home for them as well. Kenny, we would love for you to make that unrealistic idea become a reality. We would love to meet you and hope to see you in the rank and file in the near future.

            Cheers.

Re: Western Federal Blues at Perryville

                All,
This years Perryville event will be held on October 3 - 4, 2009. The Western Federal Blues will be in force at Perryville. If you have not registered for the event please do so asap.
On a great note - Phase II of the Museum Project is nearly complete. This year all the reenactment registraiton fees goes directly to the museum restoration. You can also donate to this by contacting the park - help the Western Federal Blues help Perryville. Committ to the event today and I guarantee you will have an excellent time with a full living history program and an extremely worthwhile cause. We can help tell "their story." It is not very often when your reenactment fee goes directly to the preservation and interpretation of one of the most pristine battlefield in the United States.
Come on out and support the park and their efforts to tell the story of the common men who fought the Battle of Perryville.

                    Re: Western Federal Blues

Interviewed Ms House for an article in the October Civil War News on the upcoming 147th Perryville event. The article barely made the deadline, but it was in there (p 8) when my copy arrived mid-week. Sounds like there will be about 600 (re)enactors and some interesting scenarios with the Peter's Hill battle and the civilian village.
