  • Federal units in Virginia??

I'm moving to the tidewater/hampton roads area and I'm looking for a progressive/campaign federal unit based out of VA. I am military and can probably only go to events in Virginia, which is why I'm looking for a VA based unit that does a lot of VA events. If anyone has any information I'd be much obliged!

    Thanks,
    Tom Baker

    Check out these gentlemen: http://www.28thmasscob.org/

They're primarily in Northern Virginia but they have folks in Fredericksburg, Richmond, and elsewhere in the state and region.

Three of our members are located in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Va.

If you are interested in joining a smaller unit that specialized in various Confederate and Federal regiments during the American Civil War, we may be that group!

"The Skillygalee Mess was formed in April 2006 with a set goal in mind: to accurately portray the common soldiers of the American Civil War and to excel in term of authenticity. We constantly seek opportunities to further the education of others and ourselves about the sacrifices of our forefathers.

How we compare to other reenactment groups is unimportant. What matters to us is the historical authenticity and research that we continuously examine to further our knowledge and understanding of history. Furthermore, our loose-knit group was created so friends can get together and learn, while having a good time."

We have also been known to work alongside our friends, the Chesapeake Volunteer Guard, Liberty Rifles, and Stonewall Brigade for those larger immersion events. So fear not!

Check out our website-blog (http://skillygalee-mess.blogspot.com/) for contact information. In addition, we may be found on both MySpace and Facebook.

        Regards,

Our unit has members in your neck of the woods. We are mostly from the Tidewater, Richmond, and DC areas. If you are up to a drive to the Richmond CW show on August 15-16 we will be set up there recruiting. We are also putting on an event at Fort Monroe on September 11-13. Most all of our activities are in VA with occasional event at Gettysburg doing LH or memorial services for the regiment (ie. no damn parade!).

          Here is our unit website:
