  • authentic/ progressive minded units in the Dallas/Ft. worth area

    All,

I was wondering if anyone could send me some info on such units in the area? I already know about the groundhornets, just exploring my options. As of now i live in Maryland, but theres about an 80% chance ill be moving to that area in June. Any and all info on units in that area or any area in north Texas will be much appreciated.

The 24th Mo Infantry is a fairly new Federal unit, we only formed three years ago, with members in TX, OK, Ark and Missouri. One member in DFW area right now. We are all veteran guys who came together from other groups in order to have a unit trying to do it right. We went to Shiloh and fielded a 30 man company as an umbrella organization where AoP guys fell in with us and several guys on the paddlewheel fell in with us for Friday before they went to the 15th Iowa. Some former Sykes guys who moved out here too. Captain is Cal Kinzer.

          Cris:

Send me a PM or email when you get moved down this way.

You gotta get over to the Texas civil War Museum and see the collection they have!

Although you had already mentioned the Texas Ground Hornets, we have a couple of members in the North Texas area. We don't have a web page, but shoot me a PM and I can get you connected if you are interested.

Hope to see you in the field,

                    Chris,
Since I am a member if the Texas Ground Hornets, I was just wondering when Glover became our spokesperson and recruiter. The "we" part was what I was questioning not the integrity of the Hornets.

                        Chris,

I too am transferring back to Texas and will fall in with some of my old pards in the Red River Battalion. While I haven't been reenacting in Texas for quite a few years, I can tell you that the gentlemen in the Red River Battalion are a great group of men. They're the ones who got me started in reeancting in 2001. I am also planning on falling in with the 6th Texas from time to time as well. Look forward to seeing you in the field!

                        Yours respectfully,
                        Brian
