Federal Cavalry Units

After viewing for quite some time now, it figures that the first time I post is when a co-worker asks me for some contact info. Could anyone in the greater Virginia-Maryland area that does/knows correct Federal Cavalry (mounted) contact me off-list at Mark_Ragan@nps.gov?

Not having done cavalry myself (except MexWar Dragoon), I don't have any contacts. A co-worker of mine is working with another park dealing with DC's "circle forts", and asked me for guidance in obtaining contacts for a program in planning.

I have no other information at this stage, but am seeking possibly interested groups/individuals of a correct mindset to provide to him. Thanks for your assistance.

Gerry Todd and the gang can get aholdt of you.

My GGG Uncle Charles Converse was a bugler in the 27th NY Cavalry. They served in the "circle forts' for something like 8 months before going down to Petersburg as part of the Provisional Brigade.

No Horses. That's right, they were dismounted horseless cavalry until the fall of 1864.

Just an interesting tid bit for your co-worker.
