Re: WOW! New CS mounted image surfaces!

    Hi,

When I zoomed in on his right shoe, I was unable to tell if there were laces or if it was just how the light hit the shoe. His left shoe, did not look like it had laces, but there was a line that could be pat of the tongue of the shoe. At his ankle, it looks like it could be a boot, or it might be his drawers tucked into his socks. Making it look similar to how a boot would fit. I am guessing that they are brogans, but I am not sure at all.

I am a little curious about the reasons Mr. Jenson does not think this is a Depot II jacket? It looks like it is a standard coat. It appears to have the same top stitching ,button configuration, etc and doesn't look like it fits like a tailored jacket. Certainly, Mr. Jenson has much more research than I have, I was just curious why he felt it was a private purchase jacket. Was it because the jacket and pants look like the same material and therefore purchased at the same time or is there something I am not seeing. Great picture Ken!

Great find Ken; even better that you could get a scan of it to share with us - that can be difficult with some folks.

Did anyone notice the saddle skirts were quilted in adddition to the padding that can be seen underneath the saddle. The skirt goes for quite a ways down past the riders knees.
I beleive I can see laces on his right foot.

          Great Image!

I too noticed the quilting on the saddle. Seems to go all the way up the pommel to the base of the horn of the saddle. Oh how I wish we could see that saddle by itself.

It's almost seems that with his shoes, that on foot he is wearing a brogan and the other a boot! It's a toss up for me.

GREAT image! Thanks for posting, what a lovely find.
