While at the Nashville CW Show this weekend I stumbled upon a military book dealer with a copy of the title: MAN MADE MOBILE, EARLY SADDLE OF WESTERN NORTH AMERICA, By the Smithsonian Press, 1980...." This is a VERY hard to find title of an excellent scholarly work on American saddles. In particular, its chapter on Western Saddles Before the Cowboy" By James S Hutchins is noteworthy for its ground breaking research on pre-CW saddlery.
