  • Help Finding a New Home

I have moved from Alabama to North Carolina and I wish to find a new home. But it seems I cannot hook up with any mounted cavalry units around here.

Can someone give me name or unit I can contact? I could do courier work with the 26th NC Inf, but would prefer a cav unit.

    Thanks ...

There's some Virginia boys in here, maybe look them up.

      Barry,

Not sure where you are in NC. Depending on where you are in the state puts you in between the Valley Light Horse in northern/central VA and the Critters in TN/GA. Either one is a great resource.

Re: Help Finding a New Home

Thanks for the names guys. I would prefer finding some units close by or maybe in Virginia since I am closer. Besides, I have done most of the Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi events these past 10 years and I would love to get into more eastern theater/ANV battles.

I know of the Critters and have met some of them a few years back. I would really love to join up with them - but who ever I do join, they will have to help me with my kit. I came from a mainstream group plus I was an officer acting as a courier, so I do not have any practical cav expereince as a trooper. So I would need advice as how to get my kit back in order.

          Barry,

I also just posted on your saddle question, but I forgot to add this part: If you hook up with any one of the units that I mentioned they will go all the way in terms of getting you equiped and trained so long as you have the right attitude, which it seems you do. We all have extra gear that can be lent out to guys who are improving their kit/getting things up to speed. I would recommend that you contact Nick Duvall of Duvall Leatherwork as he is also working on a solution for guys who need better kit but don't have the cash to get there just yet.

          Take care,

            Tom,

Thanks for the tip - I will get with Nick in a few days and see what he can do for me.

And thanks to everyone in here for helping me get "my kit right".

              Barry,
I'd be glad to have you join us in the Valley Light Horse. One of our associates lives near Charlotte as well. We have loaner equipment to get you started . Feel free to email me direct.
