I have a Texas tree, 5 1/2" billet. Too small for Woodrow's big back. would be glad to get into the hands of someone who can use it.

I wish i'd known that at Resaca Pete. Is it made for a narrow back horse or is Woodrow extra wide. I'm interested in it. Where you gonna be next?

It's a little of both. Coley said that design fit a bunch of horses that they tried them on, don't know what breed they were, I presume TWH's. Woodrow is very thick, and flat across the top. None of my 3 saddles fit him "right". I might go to the Westville event this weekend in western Georgia, and am looking at Brice's crossroads, but only speculatively.

I have a texas tree, a wide tree, about a 16 " seat, by western measure standards.

well i'm hoping to make brices myself. i'd like to look at it. I'd like to have a civilian saddle, but i'd also like to sources if someone asks me to make a saddle for them. I've been pouring over Ken's books with fresh eyes.

Sounds like Pete has what Joe needs and Todd has what Pete needs. Nice.

                  Re: saddle tree sources

I have , as stated before, a new Texas tree for sale. Has a good big low horn on it and a low cantle, This is a good period tree, $300. Also, have a civilian style saddle, original, good look, full pommel, stuffed canvas panel underneath. Needs a little work, patch the panel and new billets, it could be workable, $75. Also have an original Texas saddle someone reworked, they put on a small horn and sheepskin under like a modern western. The seat is quilted with high cantle, square skirts in back under a rounded skirt. I would re-rig it, $100.
