    Where they eastern, or in the "real war"? Name sounds familiar but I'm drawing a blank.

      According to the book, I think they'd count as "real" war.
      Antietam, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, etc.... Some good stuff in there. Basically, it's the author's diary, and reads like a transcription.

        Ok, they were eastern. I scanned thru a book on Gettyburg cav action between calls at work , I guess that's why I recall the name.
