  • Passing of a great saddler....

    Folk's,

Just rec'd this.....Sorry to have to report that Hank Kluin passed away Oct 7. Those that remember him know that Hank was a great pioneer in authentic cavalry gear. He did the research and the hands-on work that set the standard for the authentic M1859 tree, leather cut and hardware making available the first truly authentic Allegheny Arsenal Federal pattern saddle kit. They were quite literally ground breaking at the time when we were ALL riding "04's".
I remember meeting him at the Nashville CW show with all of his stuff on display in the late 1980's. I was stunned. It had a HUGE impact on me at the time and no doubt, many others. He made a fine contribution and left a wonderful legacy of historical accuracy in military culture and in reenacting that we all share and enjoy today.

For his obituary one of these should work.....

    This is sad news.

A decade ago, I was buying Hank's gear on a regular basis. Although I've "quit the hobby" several times, I can never bring myself to part with my "Burgess" tack.
