  • Cavalry COI Article

In late March of this year nearly 60 mounted cavalrymen from all over the country came to the Carnton Plantation in Franklin, TN. for the Cavalry Camp of Instruction. It was set in the time frame of May, 1864 with actual orders from General Forrest being read and followed and was handled in an authentic manner. One of the individuals who invested a tremendous amount of work to ensure it's success was our own Ken Knopp.

As word of the COI floated outward into the community, Ken was asked to write an article on the event for Camp Chase Gazette. He has completed this article, along with photos and it has just been brought to my attention that it will appear in the July/August issue of the Gazette. I encourage all who attended, as well as those who wanted to but were unable, to make certain to grab a copy for an overview of what was covered and accomplished.

It is our hope to continue with this event in the future and to build upon the success of the last couple of years with more attendees, more instructional sessions and with an abundance of mounted drill to nail it all down.

Our thanks and congratulations to Ken on this article and the hard work behind it.
