    Mark,
    It sure does look like a lead line in the photo, but my question would be if it is, what is it buckled to? In his present set up, it looks like he just has a headstall without a halter. Where would it buckle?

        I dont know but if that is a full cheek snaffle maybe he has a lead line attached to the ring on the one side ? It certainly does look like a lead line anyway doesn't it. That would work for quick tie ups if one is not staying dismounted long ,a bad idea I think ,generally ,but it could work in a pinch if travelling fast and light I suppose.
