Where is the best place to go for the most authentic reproduction sabre. I want to get something that will last for a long time and take a bit of a pounding. Any ideas would be very welcome.

    Kind regards to all members

      Hi Kieran:

There wasn't "the standard" Confederate Troopers saber like there was in the Union Army. It depends on unit, theater, etc. Many, if not most, western theater CS cav units were not issued or discarded early, their sabers. Sometimes, sabers might be found in one company (only) of a regiment that was used as a "shock troop." Sabers came from a variety of manufacturers.

The question to be asked is what theater, what unit and what period of the war. I mostly do western CS, and I cannot remember the last time I used a saber in an enlisted impression.
