For all of you that wished you could find a copy of that rare book MAN MADE MOBILE here's your chance. It is now on line.....courtesy of the publisher, The Smithsonian.
This is probably one of the best, if not "the" best treatment on the subject I have ever seen. While only slightly dated with more recent new research, the chapter "Western SAddles Before the Cowboy" By James Hutchins- was and remains, a landmark treatise on this subject of pre war saddles.
Mr Hutchins died in March 2009 but recently, I had the distinct priviledge to obtain copies of some of his unpublished research material that is every enlightening and adds to this fine work. However, as a Primer and synopsis, this is the best of published material that I am aware of. I urge anyone and everyone to read it.
