    CAVALRYMEN EVERYWHERE!!!

Since there is so much unit planning and scheduling going on December and January, I wanted to go ahead and confirm a few details for the Cavalry Camp of Instruction. The messages and inquiries have been beyond my wildest expectations and with that kind of interest we want to let you know the dates now so you can get your calendars squared away. A formal announcement with extensive (and exciting) details will be made later in January:

What: The 7th Tennessee's Annual Cavalry Camp of Instruction for all mounted Federal and Confederate cavalrymen seeking to improve upon their impression, knowledge, horsemanship and drill proficiency.

When: March 17 – 20 (Three full days with arrivals on Thursday, March 17).

Where: Historic Carnton Plantation in Franklin, TN.

**Last year we had over 55 troopers for this event and given the feedback then and, the huge interest shown since, we anticipate over 80 mounted cavalrymen! We have made wonderful new plans to improve upon the experience and educational aspects and anticipate a period learning and cavalry immersion event like none that we know of elsewhere in the hobby! By invitation only! But don't worry, there will be plenty of time to contact us for an invitation.

Look for more exciting details to be announced in January, 2011!!!

That's really impressive Mark! Knowing you, I am sure it will be meticulously organized and run in a professional manner. It is great to see something like this put together for us merry few who have chosen to do cavalry. Great job!

Not at all to steal Mark's thunder, but for those of you in the east who can't make the trip to the camp in TN, there will be a much smaller version hosted in April in southern PA, with a focus on Federal cavalry, and open to anyone who has an interest in cavalry, or in improving their impression. Details will be out soon.

    Take care,

Mark, so this will be open to both US and CS impressions correct?? Are the groups going to be split up for the classroom type of instruction??

The district I teach in has spring break that week, so I'll be down for sure for the entire time!

I was at the last event and it is WELL WORTH the time and trip for everyone who does a mounted impression (or even wants to learn about a mounted impression).

Mark, I will not be able to attend but wish you luck and as much success with the 2011 event as you had with the 2010 event!

Mike N. and I drove nearly 1500 miles round trip only to be rained out Sunday. Let me tell you, it was worth the trip! Come, hell, high water or divorce, I will be there again this spring!(Spring last year consisted of ice on my ground cloth and my shotgun solid white with frost)

Tom, thank you for the kind words and compliments. Dan, I am glad your schedule will allow you to be there. Last year we portrayed a portion of Forrests cavalry in Chalmers Division that were under actual orders in May of 1964 to drill and retool, so it works out best from an authentic event standpoint, to have everyone as CS, but we are still thinking our way through that. Pat, I really appreciate your respected endorsement and I am sorry that you won't be available. Guess we will have to talk about you behind your back, ha.
Jeff, as much as I want you and Mike there, I don't want to cause a divorce. Maybe just an argument or two, ha.

I will say this, you wont believe the line of instructors that is shaping up.

            More at a later date..........

              Hi Mark,

Sounds like a very tempting opportunity to change colors again. You boys do a very nice job of keeping it real. Were any of us to make the trek down from New England, is there a chance rental horses could be available?

              Regards,

Absolutely yes, Andrew and thank you for the compliment!

As we get closer to the time and after Ken Knopp officially launches it with the Jan. announcement, we can help with directions as to the renting of mounts.

This little "teaser" was just to get it on everyone's radar as it does take place early in the year.

                thanks,
                Mark
