A friend sent me some pictures of some family pieces that his cousins own. Here's a picture with some saddles. Don't have the owners name but he was in a Va artillery unit.

Re: A few saddles...
I'll probably take some time. He's living out west but the collection is here in Orange County, Va. If I ask the right way I may even be able to go handle them myself. They also have the guys spurs, shotgun, belt w/ buckle, cap pouch, Colt Navy w/ holster. And them gem is a signed pardon that they say is by Lincoln himself because the guy hid his guns and didn't give them up at Appomattox.William L. Shifflett

Re: A few saddles...
Nice saddles, I really like the middle one. Is that a rosette collection in the box on the bed? looks as if he has a nice spur collection going too... Thanks for sharing. ZackZack Ziarnek

Re: A few saddles...
I too noticed the lack of mortices on the forward mac... possibly a CS mfg? That'd be really cool to document The 2nd one looks officer or post-war to me, but still very cool. William I think your'e right about the 2nd set of bags. Look at the size too, much larger than I'd expect. I wonder if they too have carrying handles like the pair with the Kilgore saddle. Also is that a crupper on the Kilgore? If you get to get touchy feely wit them, take lots of pictures for us... ;) Thanks, ZZack Ziarnek
