  • Authentic Federal Mounted Trousers

    Alas,
My mounted trousers of 20 years are wearing thin in the normal areas and I am looking for a source to purchase an authentic pair of Federal mounted trousers. I have seen some of the wool out there and I am not to impressed with the weave or thickness (more fuzzy then the correct weave). Any suggested sources?

    Bill,
Being a ground pounder myself, I don't know much about "Mounted" anything. But I am pretty darn sure that Chris Sullivan at Stoney Brook Company either has the item, can make it for you, or if not, will tell you where you might be able to get it, even recommending competitors if he thinks they can help. His email is chris@stoneybrookcompany.com, phone number is 315-343-1557, and address is 169 West Fifth St. Oswego, NY 13126. Good luck!

      Bill,

I recently ordered a pair of trousers from Dan Wambaugh and for accuracys sake ordered regular issue. The material he is using is quite heavy and would hold up well for mounted as that is my usage for them, too. He also sells the bulk material as well as finished product.

From a moderator standpoint, you might have better success (and more accurate placement) if you post this on the Cavalry Forum.

      thx,

Thanks. I really did not know where this subject should go.

Having personally seen Dan Wambaugh's, Joe Blunt's, Chris Sullivan's and Nick S's, I would choose Wambaugh and White's or Joe Blunt's before the others. This is based on comparisons of fabric, construction methods, pattern as well how they wear, but they are my own personal observations and nothing more.
