  • Small arms Question

Has anyone ever seen a real Asheville Armory Enfield or know where there are photos of one ?
Forrests' command was supposed to have recieved some, it might be a cool gun to recreate out of a modern repop. I would just like to see one.
    Thanks in advance !

    Re: Small arms Question

    Chris,

You will find a section in "Confederate Rifles & Muskets" on the Asheville Rifles, pages 45 to 62
As well as in "Confederate Long Arms & Pistols" pages 10 to 13.

I would not refer to these as anything like an "Enfield". They are much closer to a Confederate variant of the M-1841 "Mississippi" Rifles with screw clamping brass bands.
    Hope this helps,

        Piece of an Ashville

Found in Petersburg near the Dimmock line. Appears to be from an Asheville. Wish I could have found the rest of the rifle.
