  • weapons oil

I wasn't sure where to pose this query so I put it here. Sorry if inappropriate.
In all the lists of all the substances needed to make war, I can find no reference to weapons oil. I know how to clean black powder weapons, but what did they use for gun grease...animal fats?

    Re: weapons oil

    Hallo!

In brief and to over generalize...

Period manuals often speak to just "oil." (NUG, that being "sweet oil," [read as olive oil] or sperm whale oil).
