I saw the post on the curb chains and I like to put in my two cents. They are not curb chains , but the treads of snow tire chains. I have taken snow chains apart enuogh to know. I have farmed with horses and cowboyed for over 20 years , and have used these "treads" as curbs myself...and they work. Look at the heaviness of the steel used and the boubled end links, the links are to clamp on the main chain that goes around the inside and out side of a tire. The bit is just a common loose ring snaffle , and not hand forged, nor is it broken . I use the same bits to make CSA carbine strap hardware. I hope this helps answer your questions. respectfully, plm
