I just want Y'all to know that threads such as this are not helping my recovery from Chronic Tack Addiction which knows no limits and manifests itself no matter the time period.

I believe you are right on the first. From the very high pommel it looks like a Richardson and I think the other is a somerset. There are no bars extending behind the cantle. Nice finds!

i believe it is catalogue saddle.two things for sure are wrong the tree is wrapped with cloth instead of rawhide and the US stamped on the skirt ronnie tucker7tn cav

Yeah, I knew this one was deffinately wrong. I mean don't get me wrong it probably has a history, but it's definately not a military saddle (and certainly not a CW Mac). It seems like every other week one of these so-called "original 59' McClellans" show up!

Here is another nice ebay offering.... A Somerset Wagon saddle. Good period saddle that will probably go cheap. Will need some work (on the leather and underpadding and, replace the stirrup and girth straps) but if the tree is sound it might be one you "Manassas- bound" troopers may want to pick up or, someone else for a good civilian impression.
