    Re: Plethora of ebay finds

Hmm I might just do that. I wonder if it'll fit a mule?

Ah man! Now I really wish my "horseless wagon" hadn't blown a gasket!!!!! This would be great for my early war impression.

I just want Y'all to know that threads such as this are not helping my recovery from Chronic Tack Addiction which knows no limits and manifests itself no matter the time period.

John Clinch- you need that saddle for yer mule young man.

            Here's a few more.

I think this is a Richardson, but I'm not positive. http://cgi.ebay.com/Antique-saddle-C...item230de51389

This appears to be a Muley. http://cgi.ebay.com/CONFEDERATE-Cava...item2c5a7d06ff

Oh boy! Here's an "original 1859 McClellan". And at only $1,5000 it's a "steal"! http://cgi.ebay.com/Org-M1859-McClel...item45f886ca95 But hey, shipping is free!

I believe you are right on the first. From the very high pommel it looks like a Richardson and I think the other is a somerset. There are no bars extending behind the cantle. Nice finds!

Yeah, I knew this one was deffinately wrong. I mean don't get me wrong it probably has a history, but it's definately not a military saddle (and certainly not a CW Mac). It seems like every other week one of these so-called "original 59' McClellans" show up!

                          Gents,
Here is another nice ebay offering.... A Somerset Wagon saddle. Good period saddle that will probably go cheap. Will need some work (on the leather and underpadding and, replace the stirrup and girth straps) but if the tree is sound it might be one you "Manassas- bound" troopers may want to pick up or, someone else for a good civilian impression.

If one of you get it....lose the wood stirrups (post war Buena Vista) and get you a pair of nice civilian iron stirrups.
