I couldnt remember if I had posted this before but it is striking to me for several reasons.

1. He is not your typical short runty cav trooper but rather tall-ish and lanky...like me!
2. It's hard to tell with the poor quality and I don't know how to fix that, but I swear it looks like it could be a horned saddle to me.
3. His casual dress and manner.

No provenance with it so hard to say when , where, or what it is but I like it nonetheless and thought I would share.

It looks to me like he has some sort of gaiters or puttees on. Kind of reminds me of a vaquero look.

I think the saddle is quarter rigged. Look behind his leg and see if that is quarter rigging.

It could very well be a post war image for all I know. Unless I am completely crazy those are rifles stacked but then that doesnt necessarily mean CW either. Appears to me to be some sort of simple civilian bridle/bit ? It does look to be a quarter rigged saddle. I keep seeing a horn or something but that could just be my imagination.
Mike might be right too. I hadnt noticed it before but they do kinda look like gaiters or false boot tops or something he has going on there.
