  • Early war Civilian/soldier photos

    Gentlemen,

For an upcoming event, I am needing a couple of photos of very early war, western theatre cavalrymen in civilian attire and mounted. I know the rarity of this is right up there with "chicken teeth" (or so I was told :sarcastic ), but I seem to remember seeing something like this in the past. I figure there is a wealth of mounted photos archived with this group.

    Any help out there??

    thanks,

Mark, Try this one from the files....I understand it to be an early war "civie" (but have no confirmation of that)riding what appears to be a Spanish saddle and with some kind of squirrel rifle or something. The "way too small" kepi and the "tuxedo" had him finishing just out of the running for the back cover of "The Korn-dodger Gentlemen's Quarterly". Sorry it is so bad. It is a photo copy of a photo copy. Best,
