We are glad that you are persuing accuracy and authenticity in your impression of the mounted soldier of the War Between the States. I think if you watch the posts and use the search engine to check for topics written about in times past, you will be able to learn a lot. There is a wealth of experience and knowledge on this site and it is provided by some of the best men in the hobby.
Good luck in your efforts and let us hear from you via the forum.

Welcome aboard, Jason. You'll find some knowledgeable folks here. Don't be afraid to study the threads the Infantry guys have, either. You can learn a lot from them as well. Having the right attitude about authenticity is the key to doing it right. All the hand-stitching and button pissing in the world won't help if you have the wrong attitude. On the other hand, the best attitude in the world won't help you progress if you don't embrace the entire experience. Feel free to ask any questions you want. There's no such thing as a stupid question. Besides, there are a few of us here who specialize in stupidity. :)
