  • Check this out - Terry's Texas Rangers

I thought this might deserve a separate thread.

Bill Jordan posted a PDF of the Smithsonian's "Man Made Mobile - Early Saddles of Western North America"on another thread. I will confess to never having read it completely through - but I will now!!

Found a very interesting oil painting on P 64 (page 73 of the pdf) of Terry's Texas Rangers. What makes this interesting is that the painting was done in 1864 - and one of the Rangers, Samuel Maverick, is identified in the painting. Since this painting is contemporary to the period, I would tend to give it some historical credence.

    Whadda ya' think??

John, You are correct... Mike had the pg # wrong and I paid little attention, there is a colored version of the same painting available. Thanks for the correction. Z
