There is some confusion as to if this is a regular C.S. unit or a long standing unit of S.C. Militia, I've looked online and it seems there is split of opinion, either way this is a long standing company of scouts that served along the S.C. coast (mostly on John's Island) from 1861 to 1865. A number of men were either planters or sons of planters and knew the area well.
