  • Group Insurance

    Hey All,

The 1st Maine is currently in the process of changing how we handle our unit insurance. I have found what appears to be a good provider, at a reasonable cost, but I figured it could hurt to ask what the rest of you do for insurance.

We previously had the NRA policy, but it doesn't cover anything to do with horses...obviously a major issue for us. The new provider we're looking at covers accidents and injuries caused by horses to everyone else but the rider, and doesn't cover the horse itself, but covers everything else.

    Take care,

    Re: Group Insurance

As a group we have never made the leap to get a club policy. We did talk about joining a mainstream organization last year because it was only $20 per year but the drama that came with it wasnt worth the trouble. Drop me a line if your looking for more bodies to split the cost up to make it cheaper on everyone.

          Re: Group Insurance

Somehow I never saw the replies to this thread until today...the wonders of technology I guess. Anyway, we have an insurance provider that we're going to go with this year that offers a VERY reasonably priced policy that covers horse liability. It does not cover the horse, or the rider, but it covers anyone else hurt by a horse, in addition to all the other typical reenactment liability (like shooting someone with a blank etc).

Thanks to all of you who sent PM's on the subject.
