  • Serial Numbers of U.S. Martial Arms, Vol.4

    Moderators please move if needed:

I am trying to research a specific Cavalry Regiment (11th Ohio, 11th Kansas) and am looking to get a copy of Volume 4 of the Springfield Research Service Serial Numbers of U.S. Martial Arms. I tried searching in google books, ebay, amazon, and others but can’t get anywhere. Does anybody know where I can get a copy or at least get access to the information inside? Thanks for your help in advance.

Hmmmm...I don't have that book, but another source I have lists the 11th Ohio as having Spencer Carbines and Colt Navy Revolvers, with the 11th KS as having Remington Army Revolvers, no carbine listed.

Are you trying to find a list of serial numbers issued to the 11th, or are you trying to link a particular arm to one of those units?

There are several collectors who have access to the SRS data, but you might expect a fee for them to dig out information for you. You could go to Culver's Shooting Page on the discussion boards ( www.jouster.com ) and see if someone there could help you.

      Just a thought!

I am trying to find the list of serial numbers that was issued to the 11th Ohio (Spencer Rifles) and 11th Kansas (Smith Carbine). I have had need of this resource multiple times in the past few years that I hesitate in paying for a piece of something, when I will need another piece a few months later. Is this really that hard to get ahold of? I may have to ask someone to research it for me. Thoughts?

Thanks again for your time and help.
