Thanks Will, though a bit later than what Im looking at this does confirm that the 10th had sabers and pistols. They opened the ball at Chickamauga by charging a Federal Skirmish line near Jay's Mill and some of the Federal accounts refer to them with drawn sabers and pistols.

      Lee,

No problem. BTW, I've found some really great stuff for Walthall's Brigade for the time frame of the battle. It's posted on another thread I started some time ago.

The Wathall thread was my favorite. I think I sent a link to White.

Was the 10th engaged on the 18th, or not until the 19th of September (1863)?

Wow! Found this thread just now. I had a GGUncle and cousin in Napier's Cav. Bttn. which was merged into the 10th Tn Cavalry. Were they this poorly armed? The reports in this thread have very, very few weapons in the inventory.

What is interesting is that another GGUncle was in the 2nd Georgia and my GG Grandpa was in Rucker's Tenn Cav. Btn. All three of these units were side by side at the opening action at Jay's Mill. Can you believe that? Of course, I am keenly interested in how the 10th Tennessee, 16th Tn Btn (Rucker's) and the 2nd Georgia was armed/equipped.
