    Inspectors Comments:

    "Major,

I have the honor to report that in addition to the tabulation report, that the horses of the above command are in good marching order. The officers efficient, the arms found in good condition and serviceable with the exception of the Arkadelphia Rifles which in seven out of ten are too weak in the spring to burst the cap under two tries of the same cap which is a great objection to this gun. I also find a few Belgian rifles, which there is no proper ammunition.

    J. Connor"

    Very interesting, very rare too.

This was a very interesting one, Will, I will agree.

Really enjoyed the portion on the number of men and officers who were armed or not and mounted or not. Do you ever find any references to the formal efforts made to find mounts for the men who were not mounted, such as the six with Jeffers unit (8th Mo)?

    thx,
    Mark

Great work (again) Will! More data on the pistol:trooper ratio.
