  • Cavalry National 2016

    Hey all.
I am looking to do a national event out east next year but am having trouble finding one. I portray cavalry, so I would like to do an event that involves cavalry. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Keegan,
I think this would depend on what type of experience you would want. Unfortunately, out east there are not many if at all any large scale events for authentic cavalry. We just don't have the numbers. Most of our events that are good events are small and planned locally. We have tried to post events to gather more people to come, but have not had much luck because of expense and the challenges of traveling with horses. If you are looking for a mainstream event, I am sure there will be something out there for you to attend. There is a lot of mainstream cavalry here in the east. There are several events each year that draw a decent amount of cavalry.

Would you mind giving me the names of some of the larger ones, please? Thanks.

They usually come and go based on the cycle, but Cedar Creek usually has a good turn out. Gettysburg usually brings out guys. Just google different battles and reenactments and you will get the mainstream events that can draw people.

          Keegan,

Rob Bruno is correct. If you are looking for authentic/campaigner national events, they are far and few between. However our group is based out of Wyoming and we attend at least one mainstream cav event each year in the east. Our group views it worth the time, effort, and expense to go out east at least once a year because the largest event in our area is considered puny in the east. Let me know what you are looking for and I can get you in touch with what you are looking for. Thanks!
