duplicator marks

Have any of you gents ever dealt with duplicator marks on a saddle tree? If so, what did you do; fill them, sand them out, or just leave them and rawhide over them. I really would appreciate any help you might give. I'm sorta at my wits end trying to find a hope tree I can work with.
