Sounds good to me. Before opening a third act of this topic, let's be sure there is a coherent thesis statement and find some documentation to support or refute the thesis.
If the thesis is "Artillerymen had small arms and/or access to small arms for routine use in their duties working the piece", then find documentation to support THAT thesis, not documentation showing that they had small arms under some special circumstance or while on detached duty (away from the piece).
