I recently moved into a home built in 1875. It was owned by a Henry Lake Gilmour of the First NJ Cavalry. Lots of junk lying around the basement, and I came across what looks like a cannonball resting under the stairs. I have gotten both ends of the spectrum on this, and thought I would post here.
it is 15-3/4 in circumference, which makes it about 5" in diameter. There is a 1" round depression which as you can see from the images, has no notches or other details on it. It weighs about 16 lbs. There is a smaller depression near it, with what looks to be a broken drill bit in the center possibly?
