  • Limber Chest

I recently found this limber chest while playing music in Oregon. It was in a small town
at the end of what was the Oregon Trail. The people that had it thought it was a wagon seat
and told me that it came from a family from that moved to the area from VA in the 1880s.
It even has remnants of the fuse chart.
Has anyone ever seen a limber with leather lid? It does have an arched top.
    Thanks,
    Todd Osborne

Do you have any pictures? That would help.

The city at the end of the Oregon Trail is Oregon City. There are a couple interesting museums devoted to the Oregon Trail there. Are the owners of the chest individuals or are you talking about something found in one of the museums?

Where did you see it? I live close to many towns that were at the end of the Oregon Trail and would like to check it out.

          Thanks,

Oh no, it was in Aurora at a junk shop.
I also found some US cavalry harness in the same place.
The lid is arched and leather covered..

So has anyone ever seen or hear of one with a leather covered lid?
I found the limber lock in it while I was cleaning it out.
