  • Paul Muller CS Nosebag.

Gentlemen of the mounted community, for those of you who have known me over the past five years you will know that I came into this hobby and quickly wanted to improve my impression. One of those items that I have been lacking on is a decent nosebag, I did not want a Federal model for my CS impression, and I REALLY did not want the clone copy of the fed pattern in russett. Last week Paul mentioned that he was making a reproduction of the CS model in Ken's book and I immediatly contacted him about getting ahold of one. It arrived in the mail Friday and I could not wait to try it out. This is a VERY well made reproduction that I will point out the key details in the following report:

Canvas: Nice "correct" weight cotton duck, not too heavy not too light. The body is machine sewn and all the seams are very tight and well stitched.

Leather bottom: This is a good 5-6 oz. Veg tanned (maybe Oak) leather that holds true to the pattern and will serve me and my mare well in the following years.

Rope: Good quality Jute that is both strong and soft (I am sure Shiloh will appreciate the latter)

    Grommets: Key detail here....HANDSEWN!!

In closing, if anyone is still in the same boat as I was and is in search of a good quality nosebag (or you just "need" another) then LOOK NO FURTHER!!! This is THE nosebag that will sharpen your Western CS impression.

Until Andrew can find his camera, I'll help him out with these photos.

*Note: the prototype bag shown on my website is made from linen and the cloth is too light. I have upgraded to the current 10 oz duck canvas shown in these pictures.

I got one of these and it is fantastic I would strongly suggest it for any mounted impression..... very handy and excellent craftsmanship. I can a test that it is all hand sewn or sewn on a period style machine. and the Jute rope is all hand made by Paul himself, cept mine lol... I kinda had a a hand in crafting that portion. Paul takes exception craftsmanship and detail into his work and I am proud to say I have items crafted by him in my kit.
