Good evening,
My sainted mother just gave me a couple of very old quilts which she has no sentimental attatchment to. Provided my research shows that they are acurate in mid 19th century pattern, color, thread etc..., is it recorded anywhere of them being used as saddle blankets when no suitable alternative was available? I know they don't breath, dry easily or stand rain very well. Just wondering if it was done as a matter of practice.
