OK Everyone, here’s your expectations post for Last Letter Home.
First, we will not be cancelling the event due to weather so come prepared to live in the field for two nights regardless of mother nature. Please bring your shelter tents and authentic CS fly’s. They will come in handy, and the scenario supports their use.
You need to be on site before 8pm. The last shuttle will leave parking at 8pm. If you miss it you’re going to miss out on a lot. The event formally goes live at 9p.m. when both sides leave their staging area’s towards their final positions. Get to parking, get dressed and get on the shuttle as early as you can. The shuttle will take you to on site registration and you’re staging area’s. Mike Comer will be there for any gun needs you may have, and we’re working on securing a wet plate photographer.
Show up with a full canteen. You will NOT have anywhere to fill your canteen after you leave parking until you’re in your final positions
Bring entrenching tools. You will need them, especially federals. There will be plenty of work to do on your positions to mimic what was going on for the days of the campaign we are portraying.
You will receive rations that mimic what the soldiers were receiving on the Atlanta Campaign. Be prepared to cook those rations. You will not starve so don’t worry.
Like most authentic event’s in the last few years we will be wrapping up Sunday morning so those travelling long distances can get on the road.
Permethrin is your friend. It’s May in the Midwest there are bound to be some ticks around. Take some time over the next few weeks to treat your clothing and gear.
In the next two weeks you will receive detailed information regarding when on site registration will open and an exact address and directions for parking.
You need to be paid to be registered. If you haven’t paid please send $25 to 36thIllinois@gmail.com via paypal friends and family. Get Registered.
Keep your eyes peeled for more preservations buys, these sales will send more money directly to preservation efforts.
Once on-site you will not be able to leave for your cars. If you can’t make it through 36 hours of civil war soldier life this isn’t the event for you.
In the meantime if you have any questions or concerns please let me know.EXPECT.jpg
