I'd like to extend my personal thanks to the men of the 7th Maine who showed up on site ready to do what they were called upon to do, ready to follow orders, and endure. I was really pleased with your performance throughout the weekend, especially in the face of some real obstacles and challenges. You kept trying and putting out the effort whatever the circumstances.
I also want to thank our cavalry contingent. Although the ground did not favor employment of your arm, your scouting and intelligence gathering, guiding, blocking and skirmishing actions were invaluable in our efforts.
