    1862 145th Anniversary Cycle

Working together, we are proud to present a complete campaign of events commemorating the 1862 145th Anniversary Year.

These events are based upon history first and foremost, with progressive scenarios based upon the Official Records and first person accounts. These events are organized and run by volunteers, with all proceeds going to historical preservation and interpretation of our heritage.

We are proud to present to you the opportunity to reenact the Battles of McDowell, the 1862 Valley Campaign, South Mountain and Antietam.

The hosts, to insure that the actions of a few do not detract from the experience of the many, will enforce all Safety and Authenticity regulations as written for each.

Together we will provide you with a real “Civil War Experience, 1862”, providing reenactors with the chance to relive these fateful actions.

With a proven track record of success, we are proud to present the following-

    McDowell
May 4-6, 2007, Village of McDowell, Highland County, VA

Pridgeon's Shenandoah Legion, Highland Historical Society & Highland Chamber of Commerce cordially invite you to participate in the 145th Anniversary Commemorative Living History & Reenactment at McDowell, Virginia. The event web site is hosted at http://www.BattleofMcDowell.org (the 2005 event site, which will be updated no later than October 2006). All proceeds go to the Highland Historical Society's preservation efforts and local civic organizations.

The event is scheduled for May 4-6, 2007; with the principal activities taking place beginning Saturday morning, and culminating Sunday morning before noon. First-person is strongly encouraged (not mandatory); however we request all participants to refrain from modern conversational references as much as possible throughout the event.

The event is invitation only, and we will be representing both CS and US forces who are engaged in active campaign. Details regarding authenticity and safety requirements are available on the event web
site (they will not change from the 2005 event). Units, messes, and/or individuals who have not attended previously must be willing to undergo a pre-registration screening (references are strongly recommended as well). Attendance limited to 1,000.

    1862 Valley Campaign
    June 15-17, 2007, Middletown, VA

“Down the Valley”, the 145th Anniversary of the Battles of First Winchester and Harrisonburg will be held of the Cedar Creek Battlefield, with all proceeds benefiting that site.

Danny Snyder (CMF) leads the States Rights Forces, with Kevin Air (28th MA) leading the Federal Troops.

The event is limited to 2000 participants with Mounted Forces, Sutlers and Artillery by invitation only, as the enforcement of correct force ratios is paramount.

This event is open to both Garrison and Campaign Impressions, with all standard safety and authenticity regulations enforced.

Further information will be available shortly at www.cedarcreekbattlefield.org

    South Mountain and Antietam
    September 7-9, 2007, Boonsboro, MD.

The Western Maryland Heritage Foundation is proud to present “September Storm”, commemorating the Battles of South Mountain and Antietam.

Kevin Air is the Federal Commander and S. Chris Anders is the event coordinator and CS Commander.

Building on the success of “To the Gates of Washington” in 2004 and “Summer of ‘62” in 2005 we look forward to your participation.

This event is open to both Garrison and Campaign Impressions, with all standard safety and authenticity regulations enforced.

All proceeds will be donated to Historical Preservation and Interpretation.
Event information can be found at www.wmhf.org or you can call 301-432-0103 for participant information.
    S. Chris Anders
