We've received several more registrations for & inquiries about Mossbacks. Yes, there's still room for a few more Mossbacks at the event, since you'll be on your own & fending for yourselves. Please do me a favor, though, and check in with Frank before making a final decision about your role at Marmy's. He may ask you to consider enrolling as a Confederate soldier.
Technically Mossbacks are registered as civilians, even though you won't necessarily be spending much (if any) time with us at the event. However, just for the purposes of organization, we would like every Mossback to hike in to the event site with the civilians. For one thing, we want to have a short get-together at the site to talk about logistics and background information, and for another, if you miss the hike in, you'll have to find the site on your own. While that's certainly doable if you have a good sense of direction and can follow trails, it could be dangerous once the event is "live," since every soldier on both sides will be on the look-out for you.
Also: we would like to ask every Mossback to join the civilian google group. There's a great deal of information on that group list, including topographical maps of the site, weather reports for the past few years, census information, digitized files of Missouri money, and other useful stuff. While Mossbacks and some so-called "renegade" civilian groups will be going off on their own during the event, we do hope that all of us will have a chance to meet one another on Thursday night.
By the way, the civilians have voted to "go live" on Thursday evening, as soon as our static camp is set up & everyone is on board. So any Mossback (or anyone else) running into us after Thursday early evening will find us in first person.
