The folling was sent to me and I am pssing it on in hopes that some of you in the area might be able to help.

Carnton in Franklin , Tn is holding Blue and Gray Days in conjunction with the upcoming Anniversary of the Battle of Franklin on Friday November 30th from 9 am-1pm and Saturday, December 1, from 9-3. We are inviting reenators to participate in living history demonstrations on both days.

We are opening up Friday for school children and have around 600 children in attendance while Saturday is for general public. The idea is to expose the children to what life was like as a soldier, answer questions, perhaps a makeshife camp site etc.

Any help that you provide. Or if you know of anyone who would be intersted.

143rd Anniversary of the Battle of Franklin

Thought I would pass this along just incase yall want to come help out or check out the plans for the new carter house museum and Visiter center..

The 143rd Anniversary of the Battle of Franklin is once again this year on Friday, November 30th. For this year's anniversary, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting an unveiling ceremony for the new Carter House visitor center and museum. The ceremony is scheduled to commence at 1:00 in the parking lot of the old gymnasium beside the Carter House in Franklin. The address is 1116 Columbia Avenue.

During the ceremony, which should last about 45 minutes, we will have the need for a color guard (white gloves) and honorary firing squad. We would like to have an equal contingent of both Union and Confederate soldiers to serve as the color guard. Additionally, if we could also have an equal number of soldiers to serve in the firing squad, we would like to have a volley fired at the very moment before the graphic of the new museum is unveiled signifying a new era for the Carter House.

To fulfill this need, I am asking for your help to find 10 or 12 volunteers (reenactors) or more, who would like to participate in this historic event. If you can help us make this a memorable event by sending this information to your reenactors and seeking volunteers to help participate in the color guard and firing squad for November 30th, I cannot thank you enough.

If you are successful in recruiting the needed volunteers, ask them to please be at the site no later than 12:15 p.m. on Friday, November 30th, where we will do a quick run through of activities. Also, please remind everyone that following the ceremony that afternoon, folks will once again gather at the foot of Winstead Hill to begin the commemorative two mile march up the Columbia pike to the Carter House stepping off exactly at 4:00 p.m. Once at the Carter House, a small ceremony will immediately follow.
