Only one week till we take the field
Gentlemen,
This time next Saturday we will all be in the field at Resaca. I can hardly believe it is almost here. We have 145 men registered for our Battalion. That is amazing and just shows what we can all do if we work together.
With less than a week till the event I wanted to send out one last update to everyone. I am sure we will all be busy next week getting ready for the event.
Friday Night Campsite
Friday night we will establish our camp in the woods to the west of the main confederate camp. There are a couple of trails that lead to the camp site from registration without the need to go through the main camp. We will be setting a camp guard Friday night for security and to help direct new arrivals to their companies.

Battlefield Tour
All those that pre-registered are elligeable to take part in the Battlefield tour on Friday afternoon led by Tony Patton. The tour will start at 5 pm. Those wishing to take part need to gather in the Battalion Friday campsite. We will need volunteers large vehicles to drive.
This tour will take you around the entire battlefield not just the event site. Mr. Patton was kind enough to lead a similar tour in 2007 and it was great. I hope many of you will try to take advantage of this chance. We do need an estimated head count. So if you are planing to take part please let Lt. Coats know by emailing him at Menion687@aol.com. Also let him know if you are willing to drive.
General Information
It is getting hot here in Georgia, so start hydrating now. Do not wait until Friday. That is to late. We don't want anyone to miss the fun because they were overheated.
As the schedule says Saturday evening and night we will be creating a defensive line. This means we need tools. If you have any axes, shovels, picks, hatchets, drills, and so on please bring them. They will be put to use. I have been promised that we will have a wagon to haul them around so you will not have too.
Saturday morning we will be having an inspection. This will not only be a safetly inspection but also an inspection of your general impression. The guidelines for our Battalion are not hard to meet so we expect everyone to try their best to meet them. It is not our intent or hope to embarrass anyone so please check you gear and make sure it will pass the inspection. If you have any concerns check with your company commander and NCOs.
We will be issuing rations to the companies on Friday night. It will be up to companies to issue it to the men. These will be very basic rations and will need to be cooked so plan accordingly. Everyone will have a chance to go to sutler row on Saturday afternoon.
T-Shirts
We have sold half of the 50 battalion t-shirts we have for this event. These shirt are great reminders of this event and will help to raise money for the Friends of Resaca Battlefield. The t-shirt are gray with navy blue stencil of a Texas state seal surround by the words "10th Texas Infantry 2009 Battle of Resaca" on the back and a AOT Infantryman surround by "Western Independent Grays" on the front.
They come in Large, X Large and XX Large. The cost will be $15.00. If you want to pay with PayPal the price will be $16.25. To make sure you get one, you can pre-order by sending a check made out to the "Western Independent Grays" to
Tripp Corbin
2712 Wilding Green Lane
Dacula, Ga 30019
or by using PayPal. To use PayPal click the button on the Battalion homepage. If you send a check you will need to get it dropped in the mail by Monday to make sure it arrives before the event.
Well that is it. I look forward to seeing you all next weekend. I know we will have a grand time. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
