Gentlemen,
The following units will be holding their annual Camp of Instruction, and Living History at Petersburg National Battlefield Park's Stop #3: 23rd Va, 10th VA, Princess Anne Greys, and the Petersburg City Guard.
Date: 27-28 February through 1 March, 2009 (Friday through Sunday)
Impression: Winter of 1864, Petersburg Siege.
Camp of Instruction: Concentration in the School of the Soldier (SOS), and School of the Company (SOC), and Skirmish Drill.
The Drill Manual being used for the weekend will be Hardees Revised, with a break-away session highlighting the SOS from Gilham's Manual for the Volunteer: http://home.att.net/~Cap1MD/Drill.htm
Instruction will also be given in the following topics; "How to Pack for the Campaign (Bedroll vs. Knapsack)", "How to Select Ground for Bivaucs & Set up Shelter", "Rations Appropriate to the Campaign", "Weapons Maintenance in the Field", "How to Wear the Equipment".
Weapons: Rifles and Rifle-Muskets will be allowed in ranks. Weapons must be CLEAN & SERVICEABLE!, Must have Bayonet.
Rations: Rations will be provided for the duration of the weekend. Advance notice must be given to ensure accurate account. Cost not to exceed $10/head.

Jacket: RD II, RD III, Tait Jacket
Trousers: Appropriate CS Issue, or Civilian Mfg. Trousers
Headware: Low-Crowned Military Cap (Kepi), Slouch Hat
Shirt: Should follow period pattern/construction, and should be of all-natural materials (cotton, linen, wool)...calicoes, and printed materials should be avoided unless documentation available.
Socks: Should follow period pattern/construction, and should be of wool/cotton...no red-banded hunting socks allowed!
Shoes: Should follow documented style shoes; CS pattern, Civilian, US Issue
Vests: Should follow document pattern: Military/Civilian
Accoutrements: Cartridge Box, Cap Pouch, Bayonet Scabbard, and Belts must follow period patterns/construction.
Haversack: Must follow document CS/US Issued patterns.
Canteen: Must follow document CS/US Issued patterns.
Blanket: Documented CS/US/Civilian pattern blankets...no modern US Military Blankets allowed.
Groundcloth: May be of the Painted Cloth, or Vulcanized Rubber Variety.
Shelter: Rain-flys and Shelter-Tents (US/CS) will be allowed. Individuals must bring what they need in order to set these up free-standing.
No modern inachronisms will be allowed for the duration of the weekend...this includes modern wrist-watches, cell-phones, and blackberrys.
