The walk throughs have been fun. The activity permits are approved. Registration is now open for the hardy few. The usual event listserver is here:
Like most living histories, this event features an educational battlefield march, a few demos, and the usual camp life interpretation. Those with a timepiece and a map will note the marchers will essentially be nuts to do what we are going to do on that terrain at that time of day, but do to so is to gain a touch of appreciation of what the old boys did as they moved up that fabled hillside. Those who care to remain in camp (this would be the peoople with good sense) can do so, as park visitors will be coming through the area while the rest of us are attempting to achieve a measurable degree of sunstroke.
As fate and NPS scheduling would have it, the Wisconsin NPS LH is across the warm field that same weekend. If you have a choice in the matter, don the blue and enjoy their company over by the Pennsylvania Monument.
