Re: Aar
Here's a question for all you CW archaeologists that were there Friday night at the Federal camp. There were quite a few indentations within the circuit of the trench lines on the hilltop. Several of us had a discussion about whether those were A. rifle pits (I wasn't sure of this point because they were inside the trenches, on the hilltop), B. possibly sites of camp chimneys for the original Confederate camp (at other campsites within this area, are there similar holes?), or are they C. spots where trees have fallen over, exposing large root systems and tearing the hole out? Just curious if anyone had a definitive answer?
Thanks,
